Absentee Ballots/Applications:To request an absentee ballot in the State of CT, the elector must first submit an absentee ballot application. The ballot must be given to or sent directly to the elector. No one can pick up an election ballot for someone else. In order to expedite receiving your absentee ballot, your application should be submitted as early as possible. You can return your application one of the following ways:

  • In Person: Lisbon Town Clerk, 1 Newent Road, Lisbon, CT 06351
  • Mail: Lisbon Town Clerk, 1 Newent Road, Lisbon, CT 06351
  • Email: Send a PDF file of your completed application to townclerk@lisbonct.com
  • Fax: 860-376-6545 
  • Drop Off: in the LISBON Election Drop Box at the Lisbon Town Hall ONLY (do not drop it off in a drop box in another municipality). 

Please note: the original signed ballot application must be received in order for your vote to be counted. If you email or fax your application, your original application with your live signature must be included in the outside envelope with your returned ballot. 

In order for your ballot to be counted, it must be received by the Town Clerk by 8:00 p.m. on the day of election. Your ballot can be returned by mail or left in the LISBON Election Drop Box at Lisbon Town Hall. If you are mailing your ballot, please make sure you mail it at least 10 days prior to election day. The Election Drop Box will be available to you until 8:00 p.m. on election night, at which point it will be locked.

Emergency Absentee BallotsEmergency Absentee Ballots are available ONLY for those who apply for an absentee ballot because of unforeseen illness or physical disability OCCURRING WITHIN SIX (6) DAYS before the close of the polls at an election, primary or referendum, or because they are a patient in a hospital within such six (6) day period. If you require an Emergency Ballot, please contact the Registrar of Voters at 860-376-1743.

Campaign Finance Registration: As an endorsed candidate running for a Municipal Office in the November 2, 2021 election, CT Campaign Finance Law requires you to file a campaign finance registration form.

These forms must be filed with the Town Clerk within 10 days of becoming a candidate. The 10 day period begins from the date the party endorsement certification is received by the Town Clerk’s office.

Failure to file the required SEEC Forms by the close of the 10 day period will result in a mandatory $100 late filing penalty being assessed against the candidate.

Referendums: Absentee Ballots for Referendums are not available by mail.

Your application can be brought to the Town Clerk's office during normal business hours. In order to have your ballot returned in a timely fashion, it is recommended that you return your ballot to the election drop box at the Town Hall. Your ballot will NOT be counted if it arrives past the date and time of the close of the referendum.

Who is eligible to vote in Referenda?

All Lisbon registered voters are eligible to vote in a Lisbon referendum.

Also, all Lisbon property owners are eligible to vote, provided they are US citizens, 18 years or older, and are recorded in the last completed grand list as personally owning property assessed for over $1000. (Property owned in Trust, LLC & Corporations does NOT confer the privilege of voting to a representative(s) of such entity and therefore does not qualify to vote in a referendum)
